Using Devanagari keyboard to write in Hindi

You can choose the Devanagiri (Hindi) keyboard by clicking the ๐ŸŒ icon. Detailed steps to enable these are in this blog.


There are three views of the Devanagiri (Hindi) keyboard. 

1. Main view

This is the main view the keyboard loads with.

2. Extended keyboard

By clicking the ⬆️ symbol you see the extended keyboard.

3. Numeric view

By clicking  symbols, you get to the numeric view.

You can toggle between letters and numbers by clicking  and.

My advise is to just get started and start typing simple words. It does take a few minutes to get comfortable, but after that there is no looking back.

"Devanagari (Hindi)" or "Hindi - Transliteration (A → เค…)" keyboard - which one is right for me?

There are two very different keyboards I have used to type in Hindi on your iPhone or iPad. The first one is  Devanagari ( Hindi) and the second one is Hindi - Transliteration (A → เค…). Visit this page on instruction on how to enable them. Devanagari ( Hindi)  In this keyboard you directly type using the vyanjan (เคต्เคฏंเคœเคจ) and matras (เคฎाเคค्เคฐा)। You will need to press the keys for additional options or ⬆️ to see additional aksharas (เค…เค•्เคทเคฐ). You do have access to spell check.  Hindi - Transliteration (A → เค…) To use keyboard you basically start typing as though you are spelling the hindi words in english.  for e.g. hathi will be เคนाเคฅी, bandar will be เคฌंเคฆเคฐ, shraddha will be เคถ्เคฐเคฆ्เคงा etc.  iOS will suggest the Hindi word options, and it helps choose the right one.
