With the electronic devices becoming more widespread, we write lesser and lesser by hand, and most of the writing happens on a computer, phone or tablet. On a personal note, all my writing on devices was in English which meant that I was not writing in Hindi at all. This got to a point where I was starting to forget the basics of Hindi script altogether. Apple added Hindi support in iOS 8 in 2014i [1] . However anecdotally, I don't see widespread usage. Only 0.1% of content languages for websites on the World Wide Web have content in Hindi [2] . Infact folks have started writing Hindi using transliteration i.e. writing Hindi words using Latin character set on Chat apps e.g. "Namaste 🙏. Aap sab kaise hain? Aur koi khaas khabar?”. My goal with this blog is to enable the Hindi speakers to comfortably write in Hindi on their devices.
